A stone is hard and heavy and a cloud is soft and light. This dichotomy of qualities is the perfect image for what I am trying to achieve here. It is not a place that can exist outside of the imagination. Many layers of cashew lacquer are laboriously built up with corresponding periods of wet sanding to reveal the amorphous, cloud like qualities of the colors. The shapes are hard edged and dense like stones. It is a play of opposites gradually coming to terms with each other. And mixed in with it all is George, the director who decides all the action.
