Ice Pond Paintings
The concept is to stretch the color from edge to edge of the picture plane creating a flat and relatively even surface that literally falls off the edge, like a reflecting pool. The Ice Pond image is that just beneath the surface lies a complex matrix of elements that are now frozen in time. These pieces began with encaustic wax and were individual tiles. They were actually rejected student pieces that I took over. Over the course of several years, they were combined and given multiple coats of mostly cashew lacquer paint.
